MECO contributes $125,000 to hurricane relief effort.
With an initial contribution of $100,000, MECO recently established the MECO Katrina Relief Fund, which will benefit the company’s employees who were severely impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
MECO has also donated $25,000 to the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation, which provides assistance to Louisiana citizens in need through a network of Louisiana charities, non-profit and governmental agencies.
“Many of our employees and their families lost their homes and everything they own. Flood insurance coverage is inadequate considering the magnitude of the devastation. Despite their personal loss, their perseverance in rebuilding their lives, our business and the community has been remarkable,” said MECO President George Gsell. “As we enter the Thanksgiving holiday, we hope that our relatively small contributions will make a difference for those that have been so devastated.”
