Hurricane Ida Update
Hurricane Ida took a tract that was slightly west of New Orleans and our manufacturing plant in Mandeville, Louisiana. As a result, the area has sustained significant wind damage with downed power lines, trees and debris. Fortunately, the levee system throughout Louisiana remained intact and we have not seen the flooding associated with hurricane Katrina 16 years ago.
Communication in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida remains difficult with a widespread power outage and interrupted cell phone service in Louisiana. However, as of this update, we have been in contact with the majority of our Louisiana personnel who are safe and well. Our manufacturing plant was constructed in 2014 to modern standards including the effects of hurricane strength winds and flying debris. I am pleased to report that although there is a mess to pick up, the facility did not sustain any structural damage. We expect to be back in operation as soon as it is safe to do so and our workforce has sufficiently recovered. In the meantime, our crews in Texas, Ireland and Singapore are available to support your needs.
As always, safety is our number one priority. The roads are being cleared and utility contractors are moving in to secure and restore power to the area. Our Louisiana team will remain sheltered or evacuated until such time as it is safe for them to move about.
Many of us at MECO are veterans of disaster (Hurricane Katrina). This storm was obviously devastating for many including those people in lower lying parishes. We will use our experience, expertise and the resources at our disposal to help those within our community who have been adversely affected. We appreciate your support while we endeavor to do so.
