MECO is proud to announce the company's selection as Louisiana's 2008 Small Business Contractor of the Year. The award was given by the Louisiana Office of Economic Development (LED), the Louisiana Governor’s Office, the US Small Business Administration and the Procurement Technical Assistance Center.
MECO accepted the award at an evening ceremony May 30 at the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion. The company was represented by George Gsell, MECO's President, Reano Siragusa, Executive Vice President, Kim Klein, Vice President of Engineering, John Klie, Government Business Development Manager and Jim Stewart, the Company's Senior Technical Advisor. Gsell said the honor is shared by all MECO employees, past and present.
“This honor is really a tribute to MECO’s trusted and talented employees on all levels,” Gsell said. “Their insistence on excellence in everything they do enables MECO to perform at a consistently high level.”
According to the LED, the Louisiana Small Business Awards “highlight outstanding contributions made by Louisiana small businesses and honor excellence in entrepreneurship.”
MECO is a manufacturer of engineered products for water purification serving a multiple of industries. The company has a history of providing products and services to the US Armed forces dating as far back as World War II. The companies military products include mobile water purification plants, pumps and marine heat exchangers. MECO is also the world’s leading producer of water purification plants for offshore oil and gas platforms and the biopharmaceutical industry where ultrapure water is the primary ingredient in the drug manufacturing process. The company's Louisiana operations include a state of the art machining and fabrication plant in Covington, LA.
